The Thinking Artists

Multi-Artform Schools

Residency Project

(2013)

Creators

'The Thinking Artists', is a multi-artform residency project created for delivery in primary schools, in collaborations with early-years students and their teachers, and in partnership with a local performing arts venue.

The project sees students, teachers and artists working together as 'The Thinking Artists' - an elite group of creative thinkers on a mission to explore the world around them, think deeply about what they see and discover, and reflect on these ideas and concepts by creating individual and collaborative artworks across a range of art-forms including drama, movement, visual art and digital media.

The project equips children with skills in group collaboration, deep thinking and reflection, creative problem solving, and introduces them to a range of creative processes and techniques across a range of art forms.

'The Thinking Artists' was first created in a residency at New Farm State School in Brisbane in collaboration with students and teachers, culminating in a sharing event held at Brisbane Powerhouse's VISY Theatre.
